Post-Doctoral Associate, Software and Societal Systems
Bio
Nandini Sharma is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Software and Societal Systems Department in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. She studies technical and scientific work practices in distributed and decentralized environments, including open-source software communities and scientific laboratories. Her research examines how collaboration, knowledge hierarchies and information infrastructures are shaped by socio-technical dynamics in these settings. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received the
Jesse H. Jones Endowed Centennial Fellowship and the
Good Systems Graduate Fellowship to support her dissertation work. Her research is inspired by formal interdisciplinary education in computer science, information science and communication studies, as well as a decade of professional experience in the software industry. More recently, she has been studying how accountability practices in open-source software ecosystems can be understood and theorized.
